How to Apply

AMC Institute Accreditation requires an AMC to take the following steps:
  1. Request a copy of the AMC Institute Accreditation Program Manual or print a copy from the website. All the forms you need, along with instructions on the process can be found in this manual. There is no charge for this manual.

  2. Complete an Accreditation Application Form (Form # 1001) and submit it to the AMC Institute office. By completing this form, you are formally notifying AMC Institute of your intention to become AMC Institute Accredited.

  3. AMC Institute has developed an Accreditation Workbook to help guide interested AMCs through the accreditation process. Sessions will be offered at each AMC Institute conference addressing individual accreditation requirements (also defined by sections in the Accreditation Workbook)

Applicants may use the Accreditation Workbook to prepare and submit documentation to be used in the accreditation review process or they may develop their own submission model and materials. The Workbook is not a required tool.

If you are an AMC Institute member, the cost for the AMC Institute Accreditation Workbook is $100. If you are not an AMC Institute member, the cost is $300.

  4. The independent Review of your AMC's materials and the application of those materials is a required step of the AMC Institute Accreditation process. Once you have your materials prepared and the processes and procedures successfully applied within your AMC, you are ready to take the next step.

  5. When you have all your materials and documents together, contact the person or company you plan to do the Review of your company.
    1. Give the company the Reviewer's Guide materials to review. It is important that they understand what will be expected of them and to make sure they meet the criteria for being a Reviewer. (See Section IV, AMC Reviewer's Guide)
    2. Your Reviewer must sign the Reviewer's Commitment Form (Form #1005). Your Reviewer must be approved by AMC Institute.
    3. While not required, we suggest that you wait until AMC Institute approves of your Reviewer before you proceed with the Review.
    4. Submit the following forms to AMC Institute:
      1. Declaration of Intent to become AMC Institute Accredited Form (Form #1002)
      2. License Agreement (Form #1003) pages 33 & 40
      3. Accreditation Fee (See Form #1006)
      4. Reviewer's Commitment Form (Form #1005)
    5. AMC Institute will notify you within seven working days of receipt of the above materials if your Reviewer has been approved.
    6. Once approved, you must contact your Reviewer and negotiate the terms and conditions of the Review with your Accounting Firm or individual CPA within 30 days. Related expenses, negotiated by you, are your responsibility.
    7. Schedule the Review. Since calendars may be busy, we understand that this may take a little time. We would like to see your Review completed within six months of submitting your Declaration of Intent to become AMC Institute Accredited Form.
    8. When your Review is complete (Follow the Guidelines for Conducting an AMC Institute Accreditation Review, Section IV), your Reviewer will forward page 1 of the Reviewer's Report Form (Form #1004) to the AMC Institute office and pages 1 and 2 of this report to you.
    9. All AMCs granted AMC Institute Accreditation status between August 1, 2002 and May 1, 2003 are considered CHARTER AMC Institute ACCREDITED AMCS.
    10. After May 1, 2003 AMC Institute Accreditation will be granted within 30 days of submitting completed paperwork and fees.
    11. AMC Institute Accreditation lasts for four years from the Accreditation Review Board's ratification date.
    12. The AMC Institute Accreditation fee is spread across the four-year accreditation period, with a percentage of the total fee being paid each year. You will receive an invoice each year 30 days prior to your anniversary date.
    13. Accreditation status shall be revoked from any AMC not making yearly accreditation fee payments, which are due prior to your anniversary date.
    14. Cost for each four year accreditation cycle - (See Form #1006)
