Tara Withington earns Certified Association Executive Credential
(Milwaukee) – Tara Withington, vice president and principal of Executive Director Inc. (EDI), has earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential. The CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry. Less than five percent of all association professionals have earned the CAE, which is overseen by the American Society of Association Executives.
Withington joined EDI in 1998 and became an EDI principal in 2003. She serves as a consulting partner or executive director of five EDI clients. Withington has assisted associations in broadening and enhancing organizational missions and services, reducing expenses, increasing fund-raising and developing strategic plans. She takes special interest in improving organizational processes, including bylaw clarification and infrastructure improvement.
"Tara is a tremendous asset to the company and the clients we serve," said Kay Whalen, MBA, CAE, President of EDI. "The attainment of the CAE designation is yet another demonstration of her commitment to the profession."
Withington lives in South Milwaukee and has three children.
To be designated as a CAE, an applicant must have three years experience in non profit management, a minimum of 75 hours of specialized professional development, pass a stringent examination in association management and pledge to uphold a code of ethics.
Established in 1962, EDI is one of the top 5 association management firms in the United States, providing professional services for national and international medical, trade and scientific associations. EDI has 140 employees overseeing 26 full service clients and functions as an outsource resource for a dozen additional associations. For more information, visit www.execinc.com.
