|Creating an Organized Governance Structure|
With a goal to grow and become more organized, the North American Association of Commencement Officers (NAACO) was looking for an association management partner to help them achieve these goals. This was a difficult task because the association is comprised of a number of medium sized memberships and a number of different activities for which they needed strategic direction.
CMA Association Management helped organize NAACO’s structure and centralize tasks including appointing decision makers for fast paced management of all aspects of the association. Committees were structured by appointing one chair for each committee, giving these individuals authority to make quick decisions. CMA also created one Board liaison for each committee, giving these individuals authority to report to the NAACO Board and Headquarters. This new structure ensures the Board is constantly present and seen by the membership, which enhances the morale of the organization.
CMA utilized its association management and governance expertise to better position NAACO for success. With the new association structure and operational guidance, CMA helped uncover many opportunities for the organization. All Board members now have an increased confidence in themselves and Board liaisons are empowered to make decisions and help move things forward. There is a stronger sense of cohesiveness to the association and more accountability in everything the Board and committee members do.
