When providing intensive scalable resources to a variety of organizations, there is a high demand on increasing effectiveness and bringing new ideas to the table. Innovation is not limited to a particular category, and innovation types can be applied to a variety of components throughout a business. In this session, participants will explore different types of innovation and determine which strategies best align with their business goals a

Becoming an Agent of Change

As agents of change, leaders should always question the status quo and drive the business toward improvement through identifying and affecting positive change. To implement effective organizational and “deep” change, leaders must address the psychology of change and its impact on the business as well as its employees. In this session, participants will hear about examples of disruptive interventions that successfully created adaptable business while exploring best practices for building support and ensuring positive outcomes during change initiatives.

Gib Mason

Chief Operating Officer, VP of Finance and Administration, and Director of the Center for Leadership and Innovation, Facilitator

Gib has three decades of experience in organizational stewardship and cultural development. He has an extensive history of helping various companies drive rapid growth and instill winning cultures. He currently serves as the COO, VP of Finance & Administration, and Director of the Center for Leadership and Innovation at UMBC Training Centers. Some of his past growth-oriented, organizational and cultural development experiences include:

  • As CFO at EMG Corp, a national environmental and engineering assessment-consulting firm, he was instrumental in turning around the company by creating a period of significant change and growth. Under his direction EMG, doubled its revenue and increased its EBITDA seven-fold in two years.
  • Gib played a major role as the CFO and COO during his time at 180s, Inc., a branded consumer-products company. He assisted in transforming it from a four teammate and $1million revenue firm in 1999 to a global company of over 100 teammates and $45 million in revenue by 2004. He was instrumental in the development and refinement of 180s financial, operations, and human capital strategies.
  • Gib continues to coach multiple senior executives in a variety of industries, from construction firms to some of the largest wealth management firms in the country. He has a depth of experience in strategic development in ten different industries and works closely with senior management in visioning their future.

Gib graduated cum laude from UMBC with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and has earned a Master's Degree in Organizational Development from Johns Hopkins University's Carey School of Business. In addition, Gib is a Certified Public Accountant. He also helped develop and instructs in UMBC's Entrepreneurship & Innovation Minor Program.

Greg Cangialosi

CEO at MissionTix, Cofounder and Chairman of the Board at Betamore, Speaker

Greg is an entrepreneur and early stage investor based in Baltimore, MD. He is the Chairman & co-founder of Betamore, a Baltimore based urban campus for technology and entrepreneurship, the co-chair of the Baltimore Angels, and the CEO of MissionTix. Prior to this, his company Blue Sky Factory, a leading email marketing service provider, was acquired by WhatCounts in July of 2011. Greg also serves on the board of the Baltimore Development Corporation and the National Advisory Council on Innovation & Entrepreneurship under the US Department of Commerce. He holds a BA in English from UMBC, is a seasoned lecturer on marketing & entrepreneurship and is also the lead author of “The Business Podcasting Book,” a primer on new media for marketers. Greg lives in Baltimore with his wife, Theresa, and daughter, Gabriella, and enjoys traveling and lots of live music.
